Red Bread Headed to Culver City/Mar Vista Border

Thanks to a successful Kickstarter campaign, Rose Lawrence will be opening her brick and mortar store on Washington Boulevard, serving up organic, sustainable baked goods and more.

Rose Lawrence is a familiar face at the Santa Monica Farmer’s Market, selling her organic wild yeasted sourdough bread and a slew of home made jams. The company also delivers goods by electric bicycle to your home.  Now, Lawrence’s self-described “organic artisan kitchen” will have a brick and mortar store in Culver City, thanks to a successful Kickstarter campaign that ended June 18.

Red Bread officially began operating in January 2012, as a “social justice based organic kitchen and egrocer.” It’s taken over a year, but Lawrence can now open her store at the former Campos restaurant at 13322 Washington Boulevard that sits right on the Culver City/Mar Vista border.

On her website, Lawrence says of her products, “We offer ingredients from California Farmers and our kitchen produces award winning micro batch cookies, wild yeasted sourdough breads, cheese, charcuterie, jams, and pickles.  Our aim is to be an access point for local, organic and sustainable food and to engage more people to fix our nation’s failing food system.”

Now that the funds have been raised to open her store, Lawrence says patrons will able to purchase breakfast, lunch and tea, with everything made daily in the premises kitchen.

While no official date has been set for the opening, Lawrence stated on her website that the kitchen will be ready “soon.”
