No Longer Steamed Up Over 'Hitler' Kettle: JCPenney Removes Billboard

Well, it certainly drew controversy while it lasted, but the billboard by JCPenney on the 405 freeway near Culver City is no more.

Well, it certainly drew controversy while it lasted, but the billboard by JCPenney on the 405 freeway near Culver City is no more.

The advertisement that had some people up in arms over the fact that the image of the kettle resembled Adolf Hitler, has been taken down.

Patch reported earlier that JCPenney had sent a tweet to Britain's The Telegraph noting that the resemblance to Hitler was unintentional. However, that apparently wasn't enough.

Not only can you no longer see the billboard image, apparently JCPenney has completely sold out of the Michael Graves $40 stainless steel tea kettle.  However, The Daily Beast reports, they're now available on ebay for $199, thanks to the unexpected rash of publicity.
