City of Culver City: Ivy Substation 9070 Venice Blvd, Culver City, CA90232 This historic building was originally built in 1907 by the Los Angeles Pacific Railway Company to help distribute…More electricity to the growing electric railway system. When the Santa Monica Air line from downtown L.A. to the Pacific was discontinued in 1953, the Ivy Park Substation would never again serve its original function. The building is unique to be standing today as one of the least-altered electric railway substations still in Southern California, and may be the only major Mission Revival industrial building in L.A. County to remain unchanged. Renovation of the building by the Culver City Redevelopment Agency was completed in 1993, and in 2002, the interior was converted into a 99-seat theater. Currently, Tim Robbins' The Actors Gang theater company leases the space.
