Weekend Beach, Surf and Weather Report

Here's a look at the weather forecast, surf conditions and beach water quality grades in Los Angeles County for the weekend of Sept. 21-22.

Los Angeles County Weather Report

The National Weather Service predicts chances of drizzle before 11 a.m. on Saturday with cloudy skies throughout the day. Highs on Saturday will only reach the upper 60s with overnight nows in the lower 60s. Patchy fog will hang around after 11 p.m. Saturday night with more chances for drizzle. 

Sunday will bel slightly nicer with only a chance of drizzle before 11 a.m. and mostly sunny skies in the afternoon. Highs on Sunday will hover around 70 degrees near the coast with overnight lows in the lower 60s. 

Los Angeles County Surf Report

The National Weather Service predicts surfers will see wave heights this weekend in the 1-3 foot range with a west swell. Sunday will see a building swell and surf in the area. Expect water temperatures to range between 60 and 69 degrees. Although the rip current danger is low, swimmers are always advised to use caution when swimming in the ocean. 

Los Angeles County Beach Report Card

The interactive map is a water quality report for beaches in dry weather from the past 30 days compiled from data courtesy of Heal the Bay, a nonprofit environmental group. Beach grades are based on an A+ to F scale. Grades indicate the likelihood of swimmers becoming ill. Water samples are analyzed for bacteria – enterococcus, total and fecal coliforms. The report does not measure the amount of trash or toxins found at local beaches. 

  • Dark Blue Marker = A+ 
  • Light Blue Marker = A 
  • Green Marker = B 
  • Yellow Marker = C 
  • Pink = D 
  • Red Marker = F 
  • Purple Marker = No sample taken
