What can you and little 'ole me do about climate change?

Now that Pres. Obama has presented his plan for addressing climate change, this danger is finally on people's radar screens, at least for the moment.

Yet climate change is the most dangerous problem facing each of us.

Global warming is easy to ignore. And most of us think we can't, personally, do anything about it anyway.

You might be doing plenty a about it--not realizing the importance of personal choices. You probably use the greenist lightbulbs. Have you installed solar panels on your roof? Have you planted more trees on your property? Are you driving a more fuel efficient car or even biking and taking public transportation? Great! Every choice, every action counts--yours and mine.

I've promised myself to check out Transition Culver City--but I haven't done it yet. I haven't ridden my bike around town--yet. I haven't experimented to see how long it would take me to get to work using public transportation--yet.

But I am proud to say I'm an anti-fracking activist--something any Culver City resident can become. How does fracking contribute to climate change? During the fracking process, methane is released into the atmosphere, contributing far more to global warming than even carbon dioxide!

If you'd like to combat global warming locally, ask me how you can get involved in anti-fracking activism. Or let me know about other personal or local efforts to reduce climate change.  E-mail me at Rebecca.rona@hotmail.com.

Thanks for any steps you're taking to reverse climate change--large or small.

What is your passion? If you're a local activist advocating for or against anything important to you, get in touch. I'd love to hear from you. E-mail me at Rebecca.rona@hotmail.com.
