Roving Performers for Fiesta La Ballona

A juggler, magicians, the Culver City High Centaur mascot and a unicyclist are just some of the performers that will be on hand for the 62nd annual Fiesta La Ballona.

The following article was submitted to Culver City Patch by the Fiesta La Ballona 2012 committee:

The l Centaur, magicians, a juggler and unicyclist will entertain Fiesta La Ballona guests throughout the park grounds on the weekend of Aug. 24 - 26.

"We're offering something for everyone at Fiesta La Ballona.  People of all ages and backgrounds will get a kick out of our accomplished roaming artists," said Fiesta entertainment chairperson Ronnie Jayne.

Culver City High School alumnus Tom Tietz, who entertains thousands of beachgoers at the Venice Beach boardwalk, will do acrobatic stunts on his unicycle, while juggler Joel Paris will perform with balls, clubs, cigar boxes, torches and even machetes.

"We’re looking forward to lots of fun," said Paris, who as a treat will teach the art of juggling throughout the weekend.

Earning his stripes as a featured performer on America's Got Talent and in national TV commercials, Magician Fantastic Fig and his cat Newton will perform close-up psychic card magic Friday evening and throughout the weekend.  Newton sits on his shoulder and allows Fig to pull playing cards out of his ear.

The 77-year old former attorney performed in Las Vegas on America’s Got Talent in front of judges Piers Morgan, Sharon Osbourne and Howie Mandel. He has appeared in numerous television shows, commercials and music videos.

"Fig loves to perform and the teens are one of his favorite audiences,” said his publicist Shari Barrett, a Culver City resident.

Also performing is Magic Castle Magician Alan Rich who "leaves children and adults amused and thoroughly puzzled with his silky sleight of hand," according to a Los Angeles Times review.
