West Los Angeles College Hires New Women’s Soccer Coach

Former Assistant Soccer Coach Amber de Seriere has been promoted as the new coach for the Culver City Wildcats.

West Los Angeles College Athletic Director Steve Aggers announced Monday that the Culver City college has hired Amber de Seriere as the new women’s Soccer Coach.  Previously, de Seriere was the Wildcats’ assistant soccer coach.

“Coach de Seriere has garnered the trust and respect of our current soccer student-athletes and earned the opportunity to move into the Head Coaching role with our program,” Aggers said in an official release.  “She is an individual of high character -- a dedicated and disciplined professional with great energy and enthusiasm as a coach, ” Aggers added.

“I am extremely excited and looking forward to this wonderful opportunity of being able to continue to build this young aspiring program as its head coach,” de Seriere said following her promotion.

In addition to her experience at West for the last three seasons, de Seriere has successfully coached at the Club and High School levels for the past six years.  She has also earned the United States Soccer Federation National “D” Coaching License. 

She is also a former Honor Student at Mayfair High School, and a graduate of California State University, Los Angeles, where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology.  She is currently completing work on her Master’s Degree in Coaching and Athletic Administration at Concordia University of Irvine.  At Cal State LA, de Seriere competed for four years with the women’s soccer team. She served as the Golden Eagles Team Captain in her final two seasons.

De Seriere replaces Coach Jimmie Avalos who recently accepted a full-time teaching and coaching position closer to his Santa Clarita home.
