West L.A. Football Kicks Off Sept. 3

The Wildcats will host Citrus College in their 2011 season opener.

Football season officially begins a little over one month from now and the West Los Angeles College team opens its 2011 schedule at home against Citrus at 1 p.m. Saturday, September 3.

Four of West LA's first six games are on campus, including afternoon games against Compton on Sept. 10 and LA Southwest on October 8. The official start time has not been set for the home game against LA Pierce on Oct. 1.

West LA has to play back-to-back road games twice, first at Mt. San Jacinto and Cerritos Sept. 17 and 24, then at LA Valley and Glendale Oct. 15 and 22.

The Wildcats have a bye on Oct. 29 (between games eight and nine) before finishing their regular season with afternoon games at home against Santa Barbara on November 5 and on the road against Santa Monica on Nov. 12. West LA defeated Santa Monica 36-14 at home in its season finale last year.

Head Coach Marguet Miller has revitalized a program that had a 3-27 record in the three seasons prior to his arrival. In Miller's first three seasons the Wildcats won 14 games, including a 6-4 record last fall when they went 4-2 in the Pacific Conference, one game behind first-place Pierce.
