Seven Centaurs Make All-League Baseball Squad

Senior captain Ryan Mulvihill is the most outstanding player; four others make the first team.

The All-Ocean League baseball team has been selected and, not surprisingly, seven Culver City High players have made the list.

Centaurs senior third baseman was voted Co-Most Outstanding Player along with pitcher/infielder AJ Monarrez of Hawthorne.

Mulvihill, the team captain along with , batted .427 and slugged .560 with 22 runs, 23 RBIs, 32 hits, five doubles, four stolen bases and one home run.

Making the first team for Culver City were second baseman , senior outfielder , junior outfielder and junior pitcher .

Adkison batted .435 and slugged .663 with 31 runs, 40 hits, 20 RBIs, five triples, seven stolen bases and one home run. Bradley batted .368 and slugged .667 with 35 runs, 32 hits, 16 RBIs, 14 stolen bases and five homers. Aceves batted .369 and slugged .393 with 14 runs, 20 RBIs, 31 hits and four stolen bases.

Mark batted .325 with 11 runs, 17 RBIs, 24 hits and four doubles. On the mound, he posted a 2.88 earned run average and a 6-4 record, allowing 51 hits and 27 earned runs with 27 walks and 72 strikeouts in 65 2/3 innings.   

Junior pitcher Alex Padilla of league champion Santa Monica was named Most Valuable Player and Vikings pilot Sheldon Philip-Guide was voted Coach of the Year.

Two more Culver City players made the second team: and .

Sylvester batted .250 with 18 runs, four RBIs, 22 hits, five doubles and four stolen bases. O'Conner batted .220 with 12 runs, 13 hits and eight RBIs. On the mound he posted a 5-3 revord and a 2.49 earned run average, allowing 38 hits and 16 earned runs with 17 walks and 25 strikeouts in 45 innings.

The Centaurs (16-13-1) finished second in league and won three playoff games before losing to Irvine Woodbridge 2-1 in the CIF Southern Section Division 3 semifinals.
