Little League Hosts District All-Star Tournaments

Culver City is the home venue for the 11-12, Junior and 9-10 District 25 baseball playoffs.

Culver City Little League has been selected to host the 11 & 12-year-old District 25 All-Star Baseball Tournament, which starts Friday at Bill Botts Field. 

Nine teams are in the tournament: Culver City, Culver Marina, Beverly Hills, West Los Angeles, Ladera, Santa Monica East, Santa Monica West, Malibu and North Venice. The champion advances to the Sectional tournament.

Play begins Friday evening when North Venice plays Santa Monica East at 5 p.m. on Field 1 and Ladera playing Culver Marina at 5:30 p.m. on Field 2. 

Culver City’s first game is Sunday at 12:30 p.m. against Beverly Hills. The other two first-round games Sunday are Malibu versus Santa Monica West at 10 a.m. and West LA against Friday's North Venice-Santa Monica East winner at 3 p.m. 

If Culver City beats Beverly Hills, it will play again Wednesday at 5 p.m. against either West LA, North Venice or Santa Monica East. If Culver City loses Sunday, it will play one of those same three teams Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.

The championship game is Saturday, July 9, at 11 a.m., with a second and deciding game Monday, July 11, if necessary in the event that an undefeated team loses the July 9 game. 

Culver City’s 11-12 all-star roster consists of Daniel Aceves, Jake Benun, Marcus Brown, Nico Gonzalez, Nolan Martinez, Mason Mulvihill, Michael Netzel, Eli Saucedo, Matthew Stewart, Nicholas Tuanchaen, Justin Weiner, Ryan Weiner and Jason Zeidman. 

Ladera Little League is hosting the 10-11 division, where Culver City opens against Beverly Hills at 11 a.m. on Sunday with the winner advancing to play Santa Monica East on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.

Culver City and Ladera are co-hosting the 9-10 division. The 12-team tournament starts Saturday, when Culver City plays the City of Angels at noon at Bill Botts Field. The winner will play either Malibu or Santa Monica West in the second round at 6 p.m. on Thursday, June 30. 

The Junior Division, also hosted by Culver City Little League, starts Monday, June 27, and includes nine teams: City of Angels, Santa Monica East, University, West LA, Culver City, University, Beverly Hills, Culver Marina, Santa Monica West and North Venice. Culver City plays its first game Friday, July 1, at 5:30 p.m. against the the winner of Monday's City of Angels-Santa Monica East winner.

The Senior Division will begin Thursday, July 7, and the tournament is being hosted by Beverly Hills Little League. Five teams qualified: Santa Monica, North Venice, Culver Marina, City of Angels and Beverly Hills. Culver Marina plays City of Angels in the first game at 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 7, with the winner to meet Beverly Hills at 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 9. 

West Los Angeles Little League is hosting both the 9 & 10 and the 11 & 12-year-old District 25 All-Star Softball Tournaments and Culver City is one of four teams in each division.

In the 11-12 age group it will play West LA on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. and the winner will face Beverly Hills or North Venice at 1:30 p.m. Sunday. In the 9-10 group, Culver City plays Malibu on Sunday at 4:15 p.m. with the winner advancing to play the West LA-Beverly Hills winner at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, June 30.
