Fundraiser for Former Culver City High Athlete Miles Washington

Washington was a football player with New Mexico State and suffered a cervical fracture to his spinal cord during a practice game on April 13.

Miles Washington, a former Culver City High School football player was recently injured and hospitalized during a New Mexico State spring practice game. 

To help Miles and his family on the long road to recovery, one of Washington’s former football teammates at Culver City High – Marquel Carter – is holding a basketball fundraiser on his behalf on Sat. June 22.

The event will take place at 6 p.m. in the Culver City High School gymnasium and everyone is invited.

Washington was a player with New Mexico State football and suffered a cervical fracture of the spinal cord during a practice game on April 13.

Following extensive surgery and two weeks in intensive care in El Paso, Washington was then transferred to Northwestern Memorial Medical Center in Chicago for a second surgery and is now undergoing rehabilitation.

Washington has a long road to recovery ahead of him and Carter told Patch, “The more money we generate [at this Saturday’s game in Culver City], the easier off his family will be in paying for his expensive hospital fees.”
