University of Iowa coaches are singing the praises of Culver City native Megan Blank.
The former Marymount High short stop who started her college career as a bunter/slapper is now one of the team’s prized swingers. Head Coach Marla Looper told Hawkeye Sports.com that Blank “got more confidence swinging away instead of bunting and slapping,” over the season.
In the 2012 season Blank had a .390 batting average with a team-best 60 hits in 154 at-bats. She also led the team in doubles (17), triples (5) and walks (25), while scoring 34 runs and driving in 29.
According to Hawkeye Sports, Blank’s 17 doubles are the fourth most in a single season in the school’s history.
Blank has also earned First Team All-Big Ten and 2012 National Fastpitch Coaches Association Second Team All-Region honors, all in her freshman year.
