West’s Head Coaches Ron McClurkin and Colleen Matsuhara and their staff will wear sneakers instead of dress shoes with their attire during the evening’s game with College of the Canyons.  By lacing up sneakers with their suits, participating coaches nationwide will spotlight the fact that while cancer remains a major health concern, everyone can take daily steps to reduce their risk of the disease including: not smoking, weight control, regular exercise and maintaining a healthy diet.

“The Coaches vs. Cancer program is a vital, year-round link between the American Cancer Society and the California Community College Basketball Coaches that empowers basketball coaches, their teams and communities to join the fight against cancer,” said Jim Satalin, director of the Coaches vs. Cancer program in a press release.

Coaches vs. Cancer participants have raised nearly $60 million since 1993. All funds raised are pooled and donated to the American Cancer Society at the CCCAA State Basketball Championships, which will be held in March.

West LA College is located at 9000 Overland Ave., Culver City, 90230. Parking is available in Lot #5 and costs $2 from the dispenser.
