Centaurs Earn Postseason Football Honors

One dozen Culver City High School players are on the All-Ocean League squad.

Given that the football team advanced all the way to the finals of the CIF Southern Section's Western Division this season it's no surprise that many Centaurs players have been named to the squad.

Culver City's first team offensive selections are senior quarterback , senior wide receivers and and senior offensive lineman .

This season, O'Connor completed 223 of 368 passes for 3,341 yards, 32 touchdowns and 18 interceptions and also ran for one touchdown. Jackson caught 55 passes for 1,083 yards and 12 touchdowns and Porche had 48 receptions for 526 yards and six touchdowns and rushed for 535 yards and seven touchdowns.

Making the first team on defense are senior defensive backs and , senior linebackers and and junior lineman . Two Centaurs have made the second team: senior lineman and senior defensive back .

Jones had 121 total tackles (63 solo and 58 assisted), eight sacks and three interceptions, Sanders had 90 total tackles (48 solo and 42 assisted), Luckett finished with 58 total tackles and made two interceptions while Pettway had 79 total tackles and Washington had 53 total tackles along with two interceptions.

Also representing the Centaurs on the All-League team is senior punter/placekicker , who averaged 38.6 yards per punt, had 40 touchbacks and converted 55 extra points and 10 field goals.

Earning league most valuable player honors was Santa Monica wide receiver and linebacker Kori Garcia. Senior receiver Derrick Woods from Inglewood was voted Offensive Player of the Year and senior linebacker Chris Collins of Santa Monica is Defensive Player of the Year.

Culver City went 10-4 and finished third in the league standings behind Santa Monica and Inglewood. The Centaurs avenged their league loss to Samo in the semifinals of the CIF playoffs before falling to second-seeded Arroyo Grande, 42-14, in the championship game. 

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

Five Culver City players are Ocean League selections. On the first team are senior outside hitter and senior setter . The second team includes three Centaurs: freshman outside hitter , senior opposite hitter and senior middle blocker . 

Freshman setter Blossom Sato of Santa Monica was selected Ocean League Most Valuable Player and Vikings senior outside hitter Sarah Krenik was named Most Outstanding Player. 

BOYS WATER POLO

Three Culver City players made the All-Ocean League team. Senior attackers and made the first team and senior is on the second team.

Senior attacker Evan Peterson of El Segundo is the Most Valuable Player and Beverly Hills senior Dillon Silverstein is the league's Most Outstanding Player.
