All-Stars Lose to Palos Verdes in Sectionals

Culver City 9- and 10-year-olds fail to capitalize on an early scoring opportunity and fall 14-4.

The Culver City All-Stars, District 25 champions, had the bases loaded and only one out in the first inning of its regional playoff game against Palos Verdes, but could not push a run across the plate. That missed opportunity hurt later on, with Palos Verdes producing a six-run inning and going on to a 14-4 victory on Saturday in the sectional tournament played at the West Torrance Little League fields.

Culver City tied the score with a three-run third inning, scoring a run on a bases loaded walk thanks to BB Cano and a two-run single by Jake Furness.

But before they could score again, Palos Verdes, the District 36 champion, put up their big inning and the game away.
