Encore is CCMS's first show choir and will give its first performances Jan. 26 and 27 at the Willows Community School.

Meet Culver City Middle School’s first show choir.

The choir is comprised of 27 students who all had to audition to join the ensemble and they’ll be giving their first public performances on Sat. Jan. 26 and Sun. Jan. 27 at 2 p.m. at the Willows Community School Theatre at 8520 Warner Dr.

Tickets are $10 and will be available at the door.

Encore will perform several ensemble numbers by a variety of artists including Owl City, Adele and Beyonce. The numbers have been arranged by the group’s director/arranger Dane Morris, who founded the award winning a Capella group Sound Check at Chapman University.

Choreographer Jessica Ordaz, who teaches dance at Claylee’s Dance Academy and works as director/choreographer for Southern California Youth Theater (SCYT), assists Morris.

Along with the ensemble choir performances (assisted by a professional band), several of the students will have solo performances.

The Show Choir program, one of two classes offered by CCMS Theatre Arts, was made possible in part by The Glee Give A Note Foundation, which awarded the three-year-old program a $10,000 grant.
