Culver City Students to Hold Forum for School Board Candidates

Students will face candidates for the Culver City School Board in a special student forum.

Culver City students from all grade levels will have the chance later this month to question candidates for the Culver City School Board.

The student forum, which will take place on Oct. 29, will offer only students the chance to face the candidates in the November school board elections. The forum is hosted by the organization "Ask 2 Know."

"There’s a freedom from adult conventions that enables children to pose uniquely probing questions that can unsettle even professional politicians," said Ask 2 Know founder Michelle Mayans.

The forum will present a mix of in-person questions as well as questions that are written beforehand in the classroom. Dr. Sanda Moldovan will MC the event along with two student moderators.

The student forum is free to attend with the audience admitted on a first-come, first-served basis. Free pizza, sodas and a mashed potato bar will be provided as well.

The forum begins at 6:45 p.m. on Oct. 29 at West L.A. College's Fine Arts Theatre, 9000 Overland Avenue, Culver City. Doors for the forum open at 6 p.m.

Students interested in emailing their questions ahead of the forum can email them to ask2know2013@gmail.com.
