The competition is the only high school sports medicine competition in the U.S. Sponsored by the National Honor Society of Sports Medicine; the competition consists of a difficult 100 question written exam and a practical exam. The practical exam consists of a taping component, first aid, palpation and special tests. The competition mimics the certification exam to become a Certified Athletic Trainer.

The CCHS students studied hard for the competition, including weekends, and study sessions over spring break.
