Culver City High Senior Named 2013 Venice Boys & Girls Club 'Youth of the Year'

Kimberly Woodruff, a senior at Culver City High School, has won the highest honor a club member can receive. A second Culver City High student was also a finalist, along with two Venice High students.

Culver City High School senior Kimberly Woodruff, has been selected as the Boys & Girls Club of Venice’s 2013 Youth of the Year.

Woodruff, who has been a member of the Club for seven years and has been a finalist on two previous occasions will receive the club's highest honor in a ceremony on Feb. 21 at Google's Venice offices.

“The Boys & Girls Club of Venice provided me with great opportunities and helped broaden my horizons,” Woodruff said in an official statement, adding that the club gave her stability, something she had not had at home.

The Club's Executive Director Erikk Aldridge said in the statement, “We are extremely proud of all four nominees... Kimberly, along with our past Youth of the Year winners proves that the value of a club membership is immeasurable.”

As Youth of the Year, Woodruff will receive a $1,000 scholarship award and has the opportunity to advance to the regional, state and national competitions.

Each of the four finalists will also receive donations from a variety of sponsors including Google.
