Culver City High Salutatorian Preps for the Future

One week after graduation, Kristi Littleton is making plans for a productive summer before she heads off to the University of Pennsylvania.

Culver City High School salutatorian Kristi Littleton, 18, isn't stopping for rest after graduation. Instead, she's on the hunt for a summer job in an effort to save money before she heads off to the prestigious University of Pennsylvania. She's also looking for volunteer opportunities and spending time with friends and family. With her sights set on Penn's school of engineering and a passion for math and science, the busy grad took time to talk to Patch about her experience at Culver City High:

Culver City Patch: What are some of your favorite memories of high school?

Kristi Littleton: Probably all of the football games. I was in band. I play flute and the piccolo. I participated in math club, speech and debate, but most of my time was spent with AVPA in their music department. This year, I also did chamber singers. I also did Girl Scouts since I was in kindergarten, but that’s not related to the school.

Patch: What are some factors that helped you succeed scholastically?

Littleton: I had a good group of friends that were really motivated, but I have always been really motivated about school. I think it really helped to be around friends who cared about school. I also had some really good teachers, especially in the history department. They’re really strong there.

Patch: Are you nervous about college?

Littleton: I am going to a school where everyone who goes there is really smart. I am a little nervous about how tough the classes are going to be. I am kind of used to being the top of the class. But I like the social change regarding being independent; that doesn’t scare me as much.

Patch: Are you going to miss high school?

Littleton: I am definitely going to miss it, but I am ready to move on. I definitely enjoyed the extracurriculars more than the academics. You make the friends and have a good time there.

Patch: What advice do you have for underclassmen?

Littleton: I would just say they should do whatever they love in high school, and to put in a lot of dedication and commitment.
