Yaroslavsky: Expo Line Construction 'Remarkable'

The L.A. county supervisor and Metro board member writes about a recent trip to see the Expo Line construction.

As the Expo Line inches ever closer to Santa Monica from Culver City, Los Angeles County Supervisor Zev Yaroslavksy is cheering it on.

Yaroslavsky, the Third District supervisor and a Metropolitan Transit Authority board member, said he saw many encouraging things on his tour of the construction sites earlier this week. He blogged about it on his website.

"The thrill of going behind the scenes in the construction zone was kind of like seeing a prenatal sonogram: Expo Phase 2 is still a long way from the delivery room, but this baby’s shaping up beautifully," Yaroslavsky wrote on his website.

Maybe more to the point, where does the methane (way more powerful than CO2 as a greenhouse gas)Read More release go from the fracking process, where do the "secret"and other cancer causing chemicals go, and who pays for clean-up costs, increased healthcare costs of residents nearby, possible increased earthquake damage, etc. and where does this oil go (we can't use it--too dirty--so probably China)?

As I understand it, fracking wells "dry up" fairly quickly, which is why pressure to keepRead More drilling so urgent. Where do the jobs go after a year or so? Just a thought....
