Traffic Delays Expected for Light Rail District

New traffic boundaries are set around the construction site, affecting drivers and pedestrians alike.

With a summer 2011 completion date for the first phase, the Exposition Light Rail Project is in full swing--and with that, Culver City residents and drivers can expect more construction and delays. 

These traffic diversions are effective on Tuesday July 6 through Saturday July 31, according to the Culver City website

Traffic Diversion Hours and Information:

When: Tuesday, July 6 to Saturday, July 31, 2010

Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Saturdays from  9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Sundays from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Where: National Boulevard, between Washington Boulevard and Wesley Street, with traffic impacted from Wesley Street  to Venice Boulevard

Traffic Impacts:  

  • Westbound traffic will be narrowed to a single lane and diverted around the construction zone
  • Eastbound traffic will be narrowed to a single lane
  • Pedestrian traffic will continue to be diverted to the existing National Boulevard pedestrian detour
  • Flagmen and directional signage will be used to safely direct drivers and pedestrians around the construction zones in order to minimize the disruption to traffic

Weekend Traffic Detours: 

When: July 10 and July 11, 2010 (Weekend Work Only)

Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Sunday from  10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Where: Eastbound National Boulevard between Washington Boulevard and Wesley Street

Traffic Impacts:  

  • Westbound traffic will not be affected
  • Eastbound National Boulevard will be closed, and traffic will be detoured to Washington Boulevard, to La Cienega Boulevard, and back to Jefferson Boulevard. 
  • Pedestrian traffic will continue to be diverted to the existing National Boulevard pedestrian detour
  • Flagmen and directional signage will be used to safely direct drivers and pedestrians around the construction zones in order to minimize the disruption to traffic
