The Measure Y committee - Mayor Andy Weissman, Vice Mayor Jeff Cooper, and councilmembers Micheal O’Leary, Meghan Sahli-Wells and Jim Clarke - will host a “Get Out the Vote” rally to support the half-cent sales tax on the Nov. 6 ballot on Saturday morning.
The rally will take place starting at 9:30 am at across the street from City Hall.
Residents are invited to come and meet with the councilmembers and ask any lingering questions they may have regarding the measure. They’ll also be able to pick up door hangers and informational brochures to hand out to friends and neighbors.
The council is urging residents to support Measure Y to help maintain essential Culver City services in addition to funding for sidewalk and street repairs, parks, senior and after-school programs.
Mayor Andy Weissman said, “Voting yes on Measure Y will help us maintain current staffing levels, help us to maintain Culver City’s stellar 911 response times and save lives. It’s a half a cent to save our City services.”
Beyond the current City Council, others endorsing Measure Y include former City Treasurer Crystal Alexander, who said, “Why yes on Y? Because it’s a decisive investment in where you live.”
Planning Commission member Kevin Lachoff added, “It is hard to imagine a smaller investment for a better return for our town.”
