Malsin Enters City Council Race

Scott Malsin made the decision barely a month after resigning from his position as vice mayor in order to retain his medical benefits.

Former Vice Mayor Scott Malsin, from the City Council in December, will run again for a council seat in the April 10 elections.

Malsin spoke with Patch at the Chamber of Commerce Board Installation lunch on Friday, and said that he will be sending out an official statement announcing his candidacy this week.

Malsin resigned on Dec. 12, 2011 in order to retain his medical benefits. The following day , “I’ve had dozens of emails this morning from people saying they are with me all the way.”

That “all the way,” was also a reference to the very real possibility that he would enter the race for a shot at a council seat once again. As such, Malsin’s decision doesn’t come as a surprise to many.

Malsin told Patch on Friday that he felt given the challenges facing the city (especially in light of the ), it was important for him to seek another term on the council and bring his experience as both a former councilmember and a former planning commissioner to the table.
