Former Culver City Mayor To Run For 54th Assembly District Seat

Christopher Armenta has announced his candidacy for the projected open seat.

Former Culver City Mayor Christopher Armenta officially announced his candidacy late Wednesday afternoon for the 54th State Assembly District.

The 54th Assembly District is currently represented by Holly Mitchell. However, in a case of musical political chairs, former 26th District Senator Curren Price’s seat is open following his successful bid for a seat on the Los Angeles City Council.

A special election for the 26th Senate seat will now be held on  Nov. 19 with the primary being held on Sept. 17,  and Mitchell has already announced that she intends to run for that seat. If her bid is successful, the 54th Assembly District Seat, which includes Culver City, the Crenshaw District, UCLA, Cheviot Hills, Mar Vista, the Fairfax District and parts of South Los Angeles, will be open.
