Delays Around Culver City for Venice Boulevard Bridge Construction Start Tonight

Pile and column installations for the bridge as part of Metro's Expo Line expansion will begin Mon. April 1 at 9 p.m. and continue through May 2.

Expect delays once again in and around Culver City starting tonight (April 1) through May 2 as the pile and column installation for Metro’s Venice Boulevard Bridge begins at 9 p.m.

Work hours will be 9 a.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday through Thursday and 12 a.m. (midnight) to 8 a.m. Fridays.

Work crews will be drilling, setting and forming column foundations for the Venice Boulevard Bridge and the traffic impacts will be as follows:

  • Northbound Robertson Boulevard south of Venice Boulevard will be reduced to one lane.
  • Southbound Robertson Boulevard will remain open.
  •  During this time, there will be full closures of Robertson Boulevard between Venice Boulevard and Hoke Avenue. Closures will only be implemented when necessary. For an updated schedule of closures, please visit www.ExpoVenice.org
  • During these closures, traffic will be detoured as follows:

>  Northbound traffic on Robertson Boulevard will be detoured at Washington Boulevard.

>  Eastbound traffic on Venice Boulevard turning right onto southbound Robertson   Boulevard will be detoured to National Boulevard.

>  Local access to Robertson Boulevard between Washington Boulevard and Hoke Avenue will be maintained via flaggers.

  • Directional signage and electronic message boards will advise of detours during the closures.

 Advisories: 

  • Noise levels will be monitored to ensure compliance and the work area will be watered down to minimize dust.
  • Parking and “No Stopping Anytime” restrictions will be strictly enforced at all times. 
  • Local access to businesses will be maintained.
  • Electronic message boards and directional signage will be used to safely direct drivers and pedestrians around the construction zones.
  • Please obey all posted construction signs and do not enter the construction work zone.
