City Council Candidates Forum Being Held Tonight
The League of Women Voters will sponsor the nonpartisan event.
The League of Women Voters Culver City Unit is gearing up for its City Council candidate forum tonight.
The event is expected to feature all six candidates for City Council including: Jim B. Clarke, D. Scott Malsin, Stephen Murray, Micheál "Mehaul" O'Leary, Meghan Sahli-Wells and Andrew N. Weissman.
While the League of Women Voters, or LWV, sponsors the event, the organization has a mission "to promote informed and active participation in government" and does not officially endorse any candidate for office, according to Frances Talbott-White, co-chair of the Culver City Unit of the League of Women Voters.

Tonight's forum is also expected to be conducted in a manner that shows respect for each of the candidates, she said.
"Virtually all the other groups who hold forums either choose a candidate to endorse as a basis for their forum, or they don't have the standards for asking the questions in a civil manner," Talbott-White said.

The forum will be moderated by David Holtzman, an environmental attorney who is also President of the League of Women Voters Los Angeles.
Some of the questions that will be asked of the candidates tonight were submitted by Culver City residents via email ahead of time. Other questions for the candidates may also be submitted in writing at tonight's forum.
Tonight's forum will be held at Culver City Hall at 6:30 p.m. at which time the format will be explained to all of the candidates. The forum is scheduled to be broadcast live on LA Cityview Channel 35 beginning at 7 p.m.
