City Council Candidates Forum Geared Towards Kids

The forum will be hosted by Kid Scoop Media on Wednesday night at The Actors' Gang Theatre.

In an effort to help Culver City youth learn about the political process at the local level, Kid Scoop Media will host a City Council Candidates Forum Wednesday night at 6:45 p.m.

According to a release by Kid Scoop Media, the forum is geared towards kids and teens and will help them practice their critical thinking skills in an authentic Candidate's Forum structure.

All six City Council candidates running in the April 10 election will participate in the forum, and kids and their parents are encouraged to attend.

While kids are in the forum, parents are welcome to stay and shop at the silent auction happening concurrently in the theatre lobby. All proceeds from the auction will go to Claire's Place Foundation for cystic fibrosis, a nonprofit started by 15-year-old Claire Wineland, a former Culver City resident. The silent auction opens at 6:15 and closes at the end of the forum.

Students or their teachers are invited to submit questions in advance by sending an email to ask2knowla@gmail.com. Additional questions may be asked from the floor during the event.

No RSVP and no ticket purchase required. The audience will be admitted on a first-come, first-served basis, with an optional $4 donation requested.

The forum will take place Wed. March 14 at 6:45 p.m. (doors open at 6:15 p.m.) at The Actors’ Gang Theatre at the Ivy Substation, 9070 Venice Blvd, 90232.
