A man who caught fire inside his car July 5 was the victim of an apparent suicide, according to Sheriff's homicide detectives.
The victim has been identified as Charles Edward Drake, III, 30, of San Pedro, according to Craig Harvey of the Los Angeles County Coroner's office.
"We have video evidence that deems it a suicide without doubt," said Lt. Mike Rosson of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Homicide bureau.
Drake was found on fire outside his burning car around midnight in a Green Valley Circle parking lot. He died almost 12 hours later, after being transported from 6666 Green Valley Circle to the Grossman Burn Center at West Hills Hospital & Medical Center.
Authorities were called to the parking lot of the Share Self Help & Recovery Exchange facility at 6666 Green Valley Circle shortly after midnight July 5 after being alerted by a homeless man living in his car in the area, Share Self Help’s Program Director Jason Robison told Patch.
