Suspected Gang Members Charged in Culver City Robbery

The three men, who were under surveillance as suspects in a Torrance robbery, were arrested when they allegedly assaulted and robbed two victims on Hannum Street.

Three men were charged Thursday in connection with robberies in Culver City and Torrance after Torrance detectives caught the suspects allegedly robbing two teenagers in Culver City on Tuesday.

Detectives from the Torrance Police Department were conducting surveillance on three suspects believed to be involved in a robbery in July in Torrance when the suspects allegedly assaulted and robbed two victims on the 6500 block of Hannum Street, according to a Torrance Police Department press release.

The suspects, identified as Davion Craig Gregory, 18; Andrew Henrey Young, 18; and Dayquan Travion Ware, 19, allegedly fled the scene in their vehicle only to be stopped by Torrance undercover police officers. One suspect remained in the vehicle while the two others attempted to escape on foot.

One suspect who had tried to flee was immediately captured by detectives, and the other later surrendered after being detained by the Culver City Police Department, according to the press release. All stolen property was recovered.

Lt. Ronald Iizuka, a spokesman for the Culver City Police Department, was unavailable for comment.

The case was filed with the Los Angeles District Attorney's Office and all three men were charged with two counts of robbery, conspiracy and participation in a criminal street gang. All of the suspects remain in custody.

Ware and Gregory are each being held on $150,000 bail and Young is being held on $100,000 bail, according to the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department website.
