Man Arrested No Longer Suspect in iPod Robbery

A man arrested on suspicion of robbing a victim near Culver City High School on Tuesday afternoon is no longer considered a suspect.

Update at 3:48 p.m.: The man arrested on suspicion of this crime is no longer considered a suspect, according to Lt. Ronald Iizuka.

A strong-arm robbery near Culver City High School on Tuesday afternoon left a victim without an iPod and a suspect in custody.

 The victim called the Culver City Police Department to report the robbery —which occurred near Elenda Street and Barman Avenue—shortly after 1 p.m. Tuesday, according to Capt. Dave Tankenson. A community service officer in the area saw a male who matched the description of the suspect and called for backup.

Once at the scene, an officer saw the suspect and chased him on foot. The officer held the suspect at gunpoint. The suspect was then arrested without incident.

Tankenson declined to give the age and gender of the victim as well as the age and description of the suspect, who is in custody on a weapons charge. At the time of his arrest, the suspect was found with a knife. It is unknown at this time whether the knife was used in the crime.
