Power Outage in Culver City Impacts 1,555 Edison Customers

Electricity has been restored to all but 64 of them.

Electricity has been restored to all but 64 of about 1,555 Southern California Edison customers in Culver City who lost power overnight, the utility reported on its website today.

Edison said the outage began at 11:24 p.m. Saturday and was unplanned.

“We are testing the lines to help limit the number of customers affected,” Edison said on its website this morning. The cause was “equipment problems.”

Edison said power should be restored to most of the remaining customers by 9 a.m.

The general vicinity of the outage was Jefferson Boulevard and Overland Avenue, said Culver City police Sgt. Jeff Zerbey.

Traffic signals were out, Zerbey said. Burglar alarms went off through the evening and officers patrolled the area to make certain they were false alarms and watch for would-be burglars trying to take advantage of disabled alarms.
