Police Resume Search for Suspect in iPod Robbery

Culver City police arrest a man Tuesday for a robbery near Culver City High School, but say he is no longer a suspect.

Police continue to search for a suspect Tuesday afternoon after a victim reported being robbed of an iPod near Culver City High School.

Officers arrested then released a man fitting the robber's description, saying he was no longer considered a suspect in the case, said Lt. Ronald Iizuka.

The victim called the Culver City Police Department to report that someone had taken a music player near Elenda Street and Barman Avenue shortly after 1 p.m., according to Capt. Dave Tankenson. A community service officer in the area saw a male who matched the description of the suspect and called for backup.

Once at the scene, an officer saw the alleged suspect and chased him on foot. The officer caught up with the man and held him at gunpoint. The man was arrested without further incident but was later released.

Tankenson declined to give the age and gender of the victim as well as the age and description of the man thought to be a suspect. Although no longer wanted in the robbery case, the man was taken into custody on an unrelated weapons charge.
