Police Blotter: Stolen Property and a Random Assault

This week's crime roundup features someone who was standing in a parking lot and was punched without reason.

Keep on reading for a recap of crimes, courtesy of the Culver City Police Department.

Missing property

On Aug. 2 at 11:45 a.m., officers went to the 5700 block of Slauson Avenue regarding a burglary investigation. The officers met with the reporting party, who told them that she secured the location at 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 1 and returned the next morning at 8:15 a.m. She said she entered the location and found out that property was missing. It is unknown how the someone got into the location.

Shattered car window

On Aug. 2 at 6 p.m., a victim of a car burglary called the police department to report the crime. The victim said she parked and locked her 1998 Toyota in the 3900 block of Huron Ave at 5:30 p.m. When she returned at 5:50 p.m. she discovered her window was shattered and that property was missing from her car.

A walk that ended poorly

On Aug. 3 at 7:10 p.m., officers went to the 12300 block of Herbert Street regarding a robbery investigation. According to the victim, she was walking on Cenetinela Boulevard just north of Herbert when a 5’7" black male in his early 20s with a thin build and wearing a black baseball cap walked toward her. As he walked by her, he reached out and grabbed her property from her neck and and also grabbed her wrist to attempt to steal her jewelry. He then fled on foot.  

Stolen Chevy

On Aug. 4 at 10:40 p.m., officers went to the area of Bristol Parkway and Doverwood Avenue regarding a stolen vehicle investigation. The officers met with the victim, who told them the following that he parked and locked his 2006 Chevy Silverado at 7:30 p.m. and when he returned at 10:30, he discovered his vehicle missing.

Punched without cause

On Aug. 6 at 1:50 a.m., officers went to the 5400 block of Sepulveda Boulevard regarding an assault investigation. The officers met with the victim, who told them that he was standing in the parking lot when he was approached by someone described as a 6’2 black male wearing a red T-shirt and weighing 220 lbs. The suspect punched him several times and fled the location.

Property missing from the car

On Aug. 6 at 5:45 p.m., a victim called the police department to report her vehicle had been burglarized. The victim said she parked and locked her 2008 Mazda in the 9800 block of Jefferson Boulevard at 5:45 p.m. When she returned at 6:45 p.m., she discovered her driver side door opened and her property missing.
