Police Blotter: Stolen Gems and Identities

Our crime roundup includes two cases of identity theft and a victim who discovered that his car was broken into.

Jewelry and cash registers came up missing in crimes committed this week in Culver City. Read on for a recap. 

Stolen Gems 

On Sept. 22 at 6:15 p.m., officers arrived on the 11000 block of Overland Avenue to conduct a burglary investigation.  During the investigation, they discovered that unknown suspect(s) entered the location and removed jewelry from the residence.

It wasn't me...

On Sept. 22, a woman came to the police station to report she was a victim of identity theft. The victim stated that unknown suspect(s) got a hold of her Social Security number an opened several accounts with merchants.

 On Sept. 26 at noon, a man came to the station to report he was a victim of identity theft. The victim said on Sept. 15, he noticed unknown suspect(s) had accessed his banking information and were writing checks from his account.

The victim said he did not give anyone permission to remove any funds from his account.

Missing cash registers

On Sept. 23 at 1:30 a.m., officers received a call of a burglary alarm on the 6000 block of Washington Boulevard.  Once on scene, police officers noticed that the front glass door of the business had been smashed.  A search of the location was conducted and no suspects were located. 

According to the victim, the suspect(s) entered the location and removed the cash register.     

What happened to my car?

On Sept. 27 at 5:50 p.m., a victim contacted the police department to alert officers that his car was broken into. The victim said he parked and locked his 2007 Dodge Magnum in the 5700 block of Green Valley Circle, but when he returned to his vehicle at 7 a.m., he discovered unknown suspect(s) broke out the front passenger window and removed items.
