Police Blotter: Stolen Funds and Burglaries

Our crime roundup includes a woman whose bank account was fraudulently tapped and businesses whose cash trays were taken.

This was the week of the burglary in Culver City—with a motor vehicle, a business and a home being the scene of a theft. Read on to learn more about what happened. 

Step away from my car

On Aug. 27 at about 6:15 p.m. a burglary to a motor vehicle occurred on the 3800 block of Sawtelle Boulevard. The reporting party called the police after seeing a suspicious suspect in the area of the victim's vehicle. This person also noticed that the victim's vehicle had a smashed window.

Missing money

On Aug. 31, a woman reported that someone wrote two fraudulent checks from her personal checking account. The victim said she was missing more than $500 from her account. She reported that she did not authorize anyone to write checks from her account.

Burglaries, burglaries

At approximately 2:30 a.m. on Aug. 31, officers received a 459 audible alarm report on the 10800 block of Jefferson Boulevard. Officers were on scene within one minute and discovered that the front door of the business had been smashed. A representative of the business then arrived and confirmed that several cash trays were missing.

On Sept. 1 officers investigated a burglary on the 10700 block of Cranks Road. The officers' initial investigation showed that someone had entered the location and removed items belonging to the victim. 

On Sept. 1, officers responded to a radio call of a possible robbery on the 4100 block of Sepulveda Boulevard. Officers determined that it was not a robbery but a burglary. The suspect is believed to have entered the location, walked directly to the cash register and removed the cash tray. The suspect then fled the location in a black Honda.

The suspect was described as a male white or Hispanic about 5'9", 120 pounds, and wearing a black mask.  The loss was approximately $300.
