Police Blotter: Commercial Burglary, Identity Theft and Attempted Robbery

It was a busy week for Culver City Police, with someone stealing a computer from a business, two men demanding someone's cell phone and someone making withdrawals from a Culver City resident's bank… from a branch in Arizona.

Here's a recap of crimes that occurred between April 10 and April 16, as reported to the Culver City Police Department.

Residential Burglary

On April 10 at 10:10 a.m. officers responded to the 4300 block of Keystone Ave. regarding a burglary and vandalism investigation. The officers met with the reporting party who told them he was property agent for the residence and responded to check on the property and discovered the screen had been removed. He checked the interior and discovered unknown suspect(s) had broken into the location and damaged the interior of the residence.

Commercial Burglary

On April 11 at 10 a.m. a reporting party called the police department to report that his business had been burglarized. He said the business is located in the 9400 block of Culver Blvd. When he arrived at work at 8:30 a.m. he discovered the computer was missing from his desk. He said there was no sign of forced entry.

Attempted Robbery

On April 13 at 1:05 p.m. officers responded to the 6000 block of Sepulveda Blvd. regarding a robbery investigation. The officers met with the victim who told them he was walking in the area when he was approached by two suspects who demanded his cell phone. Suspect 1 showed him a knife and again demanded his phone. The victim fearing for his safety started to walk away. The suspects then attempted to block his path. The victim’s father arrived and the suspects fled the location. The suspects were described as black males, 16-18 years of age, 160-180 lbs, both wearing dark clothing.

Identity Theft

On April 13 at 1 p.m. a victim called the police department to report he was a victim of identity theft. The victim said he checked his bank statement and noticed two withdrawal transactions that he did not make. He contacted his bank and discovered that the withdrawals took place in Arizona and he did not authorize those transactions.

Vandalism

On April 14 at 2:10 p.m. officers responded to the 10900 block of Washington Blvd. regarding a traffic accident. The officers arrived and met with the victim who told them he had just pulled away from the curb when he heard someone honking a horn. The victim said he saw a white Lincoln pull in front of his car and stop. The suspect exited his vehicle and walked back to the victim and began to yell at him. The suspect then kicked the passenger side of his car and left the location. The suspect was described as a white male, 30-35 years of age, 5’11 and thin build.
