Police Blotter: Burglaries, Vandalism and Identity Theft

Someone attempted to cash another person's personal check at a Chase Bank branch.

Here's a recap of crimes that occurred between Feb. 21 and Feb. 27 as reported to the Culver City Police Department.

Car Burglary

On Feb. 21 at 10 p.m. a victim called the police department to report her 2007 Cadillac had been burglarized. The victim said she parked and locked her car in the 6600 block of Green Valley Circle at 6 p.m. When she returned at 9 p.m. she discovered her property missing.

Residential Burglary

On Feb. 22 at 8:27 p.m. officers responded to the 4100 block of Keystone Ave. regarding a burglary investigation. The officers met with the victim who told them she left her residence locked and secured at 8:15 a.m. She returned home at 4:30 p.m. and discovered her property missing.

Identity Theft

On Feb. 24 at 9 a.m. a victim came to the police department to report he was a victim of identity theft. The victim said he received a call from Chase Bank saying an unknown suspect had attempted to cash one of his personal checks. The victim said he had not written any checks in the amount the suspect attempted to cash. The victim did say some of his checks were missing.

Vandalism

On Feb. 24 at 8:42 p.m. officers responded to the 5000 block of Fairbanks Way regarding a vandalism investigation. The officers met with the victim who told them he left his residence at 8 p.m. and when he returned at 8:30 p.m. discovered unknown suspect(s) had shattered a rear window to his home.

Car Burglary

On Feb. 25 at 8:50 p.m. officers responded to the 9800 block of Jefferson Blvd. regarding a car burglary. The officers met with the victim who told them she parked and locked her 2002 Toyota at 8:45 a.m. She said five minutes later she heard glass breaking and observed a black male, 20-25 years old, 6’0, 180 pounds, wearing a black sweatshirt reaching into the front passenger seat of her vehicle. The suspect removed her property and fled the location.
