Police Blotter: Burglaries and a Forgery

This week's crime roundup includes a perpetrator who walked off with a stolen DVD player and two women who nabbed checks from a victim.

Keep on reading for a recap of crimes, as told to the Culver City Police Department.

A stolen truck

On July 27 at 3 a.m., officers went to the 5600 block of Corryne Place regarding a stolen truck investigation. The officers met the victim, who told them that he said one of his employees locked and secured his truck at 2 a.m. and at 3 a.m. the truck was missing. The victim said no one had permission to take the truck.

Sneaking in through an open window

On July 28 at 8:56 a.m., officers went to the 3500 block of Schaefer Street regarding a burglary investigation. The officers met with the reporting party, who told them that he left the business at 3 p.m. on July 27 and the business was secured. He returned the next day and discovered an open window and that someone had removed some property.

Missing checks

On July 28 at 11 a.m., a victim called the police department to report that he was a victim of a forgery. The victim said he received a call from a business regarding a personal check that two women were attempting to cash. The victim told the business that he did not write a check to these women. They then fled the business after they could not cash the check.

The victim checked his check book and discovered he was missing several checks.

DVD player on-the-run

On July 29 at 6:30 p.m., officers went to the 4000 block of Centinela Avenue regarding a robbery investigation. The officers met with the victim and told them that he was working as a loss prevention agent and observed a suspect place a DVD player in his backpack and exit the location without paying for the item. The victim attempted to detain the suspect, and the suspect punched the victim and fled the location.

A case of vandalism

On July 31 at 5:40 pm, a victim called the police department to report she was a victim of vandalism.  She said she had spray painted her garage door located in the 5000 block of Pickford Way. The victim said this occurred between 12:05 a.m. and 3 p.m.  

A creative hole punch

On July 31 at 7 p.m., officers went to the 5700 block of Buckingham Parkway regarding a burglary investigation. The officers met with the reporting party who told them that he said had received a call from the alarm company reporting an alarm activation. He then checked the security cameras and discovered someone cut a hole in the doors and entered the location. The individual then removed merchandise and fled the location.
