Police Blotter: Attempted Burglaries and an Assault

This week's crime roundup features a man who had an unwelcome run-in with his girlfriend's ex.

An unwelcome encounter

On July 12 at 1:38 p.m., a victim called to report that he was a victim of an assault. The victim said he was in the 12700 block of Washington Boulevard on July 8 at 7 p.m. and was struck in the face by his girlfriend’s ex-boyfriend. The suspect then fled the location.

A couple of car burglaries

On July 12 at 3 p.m., a victim of a car burglary called the police department to report the crime. The victim said she parked and locked her 2007 Chevrolet in the 5600 block of Sepulveda Boulevard at 2:20 p.m. She returned to her vehicle at 2:50 p.m. and discovered her third row seat was missing along with her cell phone.

On July 14 at 6 p.m., a victim called the police department to report her 2007 Cadillac had been burglarized. The victim said she parked and locked her car in the 5100 block of Pickford Way on July 11 at 3:20 pm, and when she returned on July 14 at 1:50 p.m., she discovered someone had removed her property from the vehicle.

The burglaries that weren't

On July 12 at 10:20 a.m., officers went to the 11400 block of Washington Boulevard regarding an attempted burglary investigation. The officers met with the victim, who told them that he locked and secured his front door on July 9 at 6 p.m. and returned on July 12 at 10 a.m. and discovered the locking mechanism had been tampered with. Someone had attempted to pry open the door, but were unable to gain entry to the location.

On July 15 at 2:20 a.m., officers responded to the 6500 block of Green Valley Circle regarding a burglary investigation. The officers met with the victim who told them that she locked and secured her residence at 9 p.m. and returned at 2 a.m. and discovered her front door had been damaged and forced slightly inward. The suspect was unable to force open the door to gain entry.

Random graffiti

On July 17 at 11:40 a.m., a victim called the police department to report his truck had been vandalized. The victim said he parked his truck in the 11300 block of Malat Way on July 16 at 3 p.m., and when he returned the next day at 11:30 a.m., he discovered his truck had been spray painted.
