Police Blotter: An Unexpected Visitor

This week's crime roundup featured a man who discovered an unexpected visitor in his home.

An unexpected visitor

On Sept. 28 at 11:15 p.m., officers went to the 11400 block of Diller Avenue regarding a robbery investigation. The officers met with the victim, who told them that he was getting ready for bed when he noticed a suspect standing in the hallway of his home. The suspect was described as a black male, 5’9 to 6’0, 30 to 40 years old and had facial hair. He then demanded his money. The victim, who was in fear for his safety, gave the suspect his money and the suspect fled the location.

A drive-by robbery

On Sept. 29 at 11:30 p.m., officers went to the 6000 block of Sepulveda Boulevard regarding a robbery investigation. The officers met with the victim, who told them that he and a friend were walking to his vehicle when they noticed a vehicle driving by them. Someone jumped out of the vehicle, approached him and demanded his property. The suspect then got back into the vehicle and fled the location.

Business burglary

On Sept. 30 at 11 a.m., officers went to the 6000 block of Sepulveda Boulevard regarding a burglary investigation. The officers met with the victim, who told them that he secured the business on Sept. 29 at 9:30 p.m. and when he returned the next morning at 9:30 a.m., he saw that the storage room door had pry marks on the door. He then realized that property was missing.

On Oct. 3 at 9:23 a.m., officers went to the 4100 block of La Fayette Place regarding a burglary investigation. The officers met with the victim, who told them that he locked and secured his residence on Sept. 29 at 12:30 p.m. He returned at 4 p.m. and saw that his front door was unlocked.  When entered his residence, he realized he property was missing.

On Oct. 4 at 12:45 p.m., a victim called the police department to report a burglary to his vehicle. The victim said he parked and locked his 1997 Honda near the intersection of Arizona Avenue and Elenda Avenue at 12 p.m. He returned at 12:30 p.m. and realized his property in his vehicle was missing.
