Police Blotter: A Forged Check and Stolen Vehicle

This week's crime roundup includes a suspect who tried to cash a forged check and a car that was not where the owner left it.

A stolen vehicle

On Oct. 25 at 9:15 a.m., officers went to the 5800 block of Uplander Way regarding a stolen vehicle investigation. The officers met with the victim, who told them that he parked and locked his 2001 Ford Truck at 8:30 p.m. and returned the next day at 9 a.m. and saw that his vehicle was missing.

Two instances of missing property

On Oct. 26 at 12:10 p.m., a victim called the police department to report her 2001 Toyota had been burglarized. The victim said she parked and locked her car in the 3200 block of Roberts Avenue on Oct. 25 at 5 p.m. She returned the next morning at 11:45 a.m and saw that her property was missing.

On Oct. 27 at 2:30 p.m., a victim called the police department to say that his 2005 Ford Explorer had been burglarized. The victim said he parked and locked his vehicle in the 6300 block of Slauson Boulevard at 1:30 p.m. and when he returned at 2:20 p.m. discovered that someone had removed his property.

A forged check

On Oct. 28 at 5 p.m., officers went to the 5300 block of Sepulveda Boulevard regarding a forgery investigation. The officers met with the reporting party who told them that a male suspect entered the location and presented a check and identification to cash the check. The reporting party checked the account and discovered the account was flagged. The suspect then fled the location.

Sit, have a drink

On Oct. 28 at 11:25 p.m., officers went to the 5400 block of Sepulveda Boulevard regarding a battery investigation. The officers met with the victim, who told them that he was having a drink in the location when the suspect invited him to sit down with him and a friend. When he sat down, the suspect— for no apparent reason—struck the victim in the face several times. The suspect then fled the location.

Broken car window

On Oct. 31 at 12:15 a.m., a victim called the police department to say that someone vandalized her 2009 Mercedes Benz. The victim said she parked and locked her vehicle in the 6000 block of Canterbury Drive on Oct. 27 at 10 a.m. She returned on Oct. 31 at 12 a.m. and discovered her rear window was broken out.
