Motorcyclist Killed on 405 Fwy. at Venice Boulevard

UPDATED: Fatal crash closes southbound lanes for several hours Tuesday evening.

A 43-year-old motorcyclist was killed late Tuesday in a collision with a vehicle on the San Diego (405) Freeway in Mar Vista and several lanes were temporarily closed.

The crash occurred in the carpool lane of the southbound San Diego Freeway at Venice Boulevard about 4:35 p.m., said California Highway Patrol Officer Christian Craycraft.

The victim's name was withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The carpool and number 1 and 2 lanes were shut down for the investigation and cleanup, prompting the CHP to declare a SigAlert, Craycraft said.

The freeway was cleared at 7:46 p.m. and the SigAlert was canceled, Craycraft said.

No other injuries were reported in the crash.

Maybe more to the point, where does the methane (way more powerful than CO2 as a greenhouse gas)Read More release go from the fracking process, where do the "secret"and other cancer causing chemicals go, and who pays for clean-up costs, increased healthcare costs of residents nearby, possible increased earthquake damage, etc. and where does this oil go (we can't use it--too dirty--so probably China)?

As I understand it, fracking wells "dry up" fairly quickly, which is why pressure to keepRead More drilling so urgent. Where do the jobs go after a year or so? Just a thought....
