A woman who had gone shopping at the Westfield Culver City shopping center was assaulted today by two girls thought to be 9 and about 16 years old, according to Culver City police.

As the woman was walking back to her car, she was struck and knocked to the ground by the two girls, who took her merchandise and fled on foot just before 4 p.m., said Lt. Allen Azran of the Culver City Police Department.

She was taken to a hospital for treatment, although her injuries were
not believed to be life threatening, Azran said. No weapon was used.

Very disturbing. Westfield Mall and CCPD should increase security. With increased popularity -follows increased crimes.

This is nothing new for the Fox hills aka HOOD mall. I dont bring my family there very often due to the fact that I have witnessed at least 3 major brawls there over the years. I even recall mall cops chasing a perp back in 1982. If you want to be safe go to Century City, or the Westside pavillion.

I never go to that mall alone. I always take a male or two with me as I don't feel safe there either. There is very little security in the parking lots, even in the daytime.
