Culver City Police Blotter: Street Robbery in Broad Daylight

The victim reported a man grabbed her cell phone as she was walking and talking on her phone on Buckingham Parkway.

Here's a recap of crimes that occurred between Feb. 5 and Feb. 11 as reported to the Culver City Police Department.

Burglary

On Feb. 6 at 1:18 p.m. officers responded to the 5400 block of Sepulveda Blvd. regarding a burglary investigation. The officers met with the victim who told them she noticed that a container located on her property had been forced open and her property missing.

Vandalism

On Feb. 7 at 1:54 p.m. officers responded to the 13300 block of Washington Blvd. regarding a vandalism investigation. The officers met with the victim who told them she locked and secured the location on Feb. 6 at 9 p.m. and when she returned the next morning discovered the front window had been damaged with an unknown tool.

Forgery

On Feb. 8 at 6 p.m. officers responded to the 11000 block of Jefferson Blvd. regarding a forgery investigation. The officers met with the reporting party who told them a male suspect entered the location and attempted to cash a check. She then checked with the company whose check it was. They told her that particular check was in another person’s name and did not belong to the suspect that was attempting to cash it. The reporting party then called the police but the suspect left the location.

Burglary

On Feb. 9 at 4:40 p.m. officers responded to the 5700 block of Hannum Ave. regarding a burglary alarm call. The officers arrived and discovered the front glass doors were smashed out.  The responsible party arrived and an interior check of the location was conducted and it was discovered property had been taken.

Street Robbery

On Feb. 10 at 2 p.m. officers responded to the area of Slauson Avenue and Buckingham Parkway regarding a robbery investigation. The officers met with the victim who told them she was walking south on Buckingham Parkway and was talking on her cell phone when she heard someone yell at her about the time. The victim continued to walk when she felt someone grab her phone and attempt to take it. The suspect was able to pull the phone away from her and then fled the area.  The suspect was described as a male, Black, 18-25 years of age, 190 lbs, medium build and shaved head.
