Car Slams Into Culver City Apartment, No Injuries Reported

The VW Beetle crashed into a building on Sawtelle Boulevard after the driver lost control coming off the 405 freeway.

Two people were lucky to escape without injury when a blue Volkswagon Beetle crashed into an apartment wall at 3866 Sawtelle Boulevard on Monday night.

Multiple Culver City Police and Fire Department officers responded to the scene at approximately 8:25 p.m.

The woman in the apartment told KTLA News she was watching the NBA Playoffs on television when the car slammed into her apartment wall after coming off the northbound 405 freeway.

Shortly after the crash, a neighbor tweeted:  "I live right next where it happen! That was one loud BANG!!! crazy stuff."

While the accident occurred in Culver City, the case was handed over to the California Highway Patrol because the incident started on the 405 freeway, Lt. Jason Sims told Patch. Sims said there was "little or no damage" to the apartment building, either.

According to authorities the driver lost control after exiting the northbound 405 freeway. CHP is currently investigating whether the driver was under the influence at the time of the crash. As of Tuesday morning, no further information had been released, including whether the driver of the car was male or female.

Patch will bring you more details as they become available.
