Man Charged in Fatal DUI to Be Arraigned June 22

The arraignment of Jorge Alberto Molina—a Culver City man accused of driving drunk and causing a fatal crash New Year’s Eve—is set for June 22, Los Angeles Deputy District Attorney Kennes Ma said.

Molina, 27, has been charged with two counts of murder and one count of leaving the scene of an accident in connection with a collision that killed Demetria and Kelvin Dorsey. At Wednesday's preliminary hearing, Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge James Bianco found sufficient evidence to require Molina to go to trial, Ma said.

He pleaded not guilty to all charges in February.

If convicted, Molina, who is in custody in lieu of $2 million bail, could spend 30 years in prison.

Deputy District Attorney Kaarin Axelsen said Molina led police on a brief chase after running a red light near Florence and Van Ness avenues at about 11:30 p.m. on Dec. 31. He ran through another red light at Florence and Crenshaw Boulevard before his Geo Prism slammed into a blue Infiniti SUV driven by Demetria Dorsey, 50, Axelsen said. The SUV flipped on its roof.

Dorsey and her husband, 54, both died at the scene, police said. Molina allegedly got out of his car in an attempt to escape the scene before police officers apprehended him.
