Armed Robbery at Box City

Culver City police were called to the scene of Box City on Washington Boulevard on the Culver City/Marina del Rey border shortly after 1 p.m. after several suspects entered the store with handguns.

Culver City police are currently at the scene of an armed robbery at Box City at 13452 Washington Boulevard on the Culver City/Marina del Rey border. The incident occurred shortly after 1 p.m.

Lt. Corrales at the Culver City Police Department told Patch police are currently investigating the incident, that there were “several” African American male suspects who entered the store and robbed the place.

Lt. Corrales added that until the officers return from the scene and file a report, the details couldn’t be confirmed. However, according to scanner reports, the incident took place at 1:02 p.m. four African American males entered the store with handguns, and one took the employee to the back of the store and held him at gunpoint. The suspects reportedly took $1500 along with a large brown shipping box. The contents of the box are unknown.

Suspect 1 is described as a black male in his late 30s, heavy build, wearing a Gucci hat, black sunglasses, black leather jacket and green camouflage pants. Suspect 2 is described as a black male, early 30′s, 6’0”, thin build, wearing black jeans, a black shirt and black sunglasses. Suspect 3 and 4 are described as black males thin build, 5’11′, wearing black sunglasses and all black clothing.

The suspects reportedly had Jamaican accents and were last seen in a silver four-door Chevy Sedan, possibly a newer model traveling eastbound on Washington Boulevard from the location.

I tried this once driving from the Long Beach Airport to Irvine. And I was astounded at how slow this felt. I also noticed that in all contexts (Freeway, Arterial, and local road) I was the only one doing so. I didn't pass or pace a single other car for the full 30 minutes. So somehow I doubt that although he may be "responsible" driving he is a fully law-abiding driver.
