Planning for Fiesta La Ballona

A general meeting for the extravaganza is scheduled to be held on Tuesday.

While it is still months away, plans for the annual are well underway.

A meeting is scheduled for tomorrow to help plan one of the city’s biggest events of the year.

“Everyone on the committee has been working to increase attendance, especially among 21 to 39 year olds, by attracting quality vendors, popular entertainers and enhanced activities via an extensive marketing campaign that uses social media and other current marketing tools to brand and “create a buzz” for the event,” said Mike Cohen, chair of this year’s Fiesta La Ballona. “I appreciate the commitment and resources of the Culver City Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Services, which is the backbone of this annual fair.”

The annual event dates as far back as 1951 and began as a weeklong celebration. This year there will be a host of activities, including performances by jugglers, mimes, magicians and unicyclists interspersed with vintage Culver City service cars and bicycles.

Culver City CARES will also play a big role in the celebration, and shuttles and local bus lines will offer rides to the event from neighborhoods and nearby parking areas to make it easier for locals to attend.
