Enter Our Drawing to Win a Wristband for Free Rides at Fiesta La Ballona

Five lucky new Culver City Patch newsletter subscribers will win all day wristbands worth $20 for unlimited carnival rides at Fiesta La Ballona this weekend. The wristbands can be used on either Saturday or Sunday between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Looking for something fun to do this weekend? How about something fun and free?

Culver City Patch is giving away five wristbands that can be used on rides at this weekend's Fiesta La Ballona. The wristbands are worth $20 each and can be used between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. on EITHER Sat. Aug. 25 or Sun. Aug. 26.

All you need to do to enter is fill in your email address and full name in the form above to sign up for the Culver City Patch newsletter. The drawing is open to NEW Culver City Patch newsletter subscribers only.

Entry is open through noon on Fri. Aug. 24 and we'll randomly draw the five winners at 2 p.m. the same day. Winners will be notified via email and will able to pick up their wristbands at the Fiesta Information Booth across from the Main Stage (NOT the Ride Ticket Booth) any time after 10:30 a.m. on Saturday or Sunday.

The fine print

  • Open to legal residents of the 50 United States, the District of Columbia who are 18 and older.
  • Open to NEW Culver City Patch newsletter subscribers only.
  • To enter, sign up to receive the Patch newsletter using the form at the top of this article.
  • All entries must be received by noon Aug. 24. Pacific Time.
  • You may enter once
  • Five winners will be selected in a random drawing.
  • The five winners will each receive an all day wristband for Fiesta La Ballona rides valued at $20 each.
  • Wristbands can be used all day Sat. Aug. 25 OR Sun. Aug. 26 between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. only (they are not valid for both days). 
  • Winners will be notified via email
  • Winners will be able to collect their wristbands at the  Fiesta Information Booth across from the Main Stage (NOT the Ride Ticket Booth) on either Saturday or Sunday after 10:30 a.m.

Those not eligible to enter the competition can still purchase wristbands in advance for $20. Wristbands will cost $25 during the festival itself. You can purchase them at the Recreation Office at the Vets Auditorium - 4117 Overland Ave. through Fri. Maybe more to the point, where does the methane (way more powerful than CO2 as a greenhouse gas)Read More release go from the fracking process, where do the "secret"and other cancer causing chemicals go, and who pays for clean-up costs, increased healthcare costs of residents nearby, possible increased earthquake damage, etc. and where does this oil go (we can't use it--too dirty--so probably China)?

I tried this once driving from the Long Beach Airport to Irvine. And I was astounded at how slow this felt. I also noticed that in all contexts (Freeway, Arterial, and local road) I was the only one doing so. I didn't pass or pace a single other car for the full 30 minutes. So somehow I doubt that although he may be "responsible" driving he is a fully law-abiding driver.

More important, the approach was simply confrontational and not reflective of the changing perspective (read: progress) of the broader city on bicycle riding nor of the amazing new life blood of the those who are revitalizing the very Culver City you love and have worked so very hard for. Again, I urge you to apologize (not clarify) and perhaps come speak to some bike commuters/riders and join us in making Culver City's road's, less territorial and safer...
